Our Impact - The African Child Agenda: Empowering Through Education and Beyond

Transforming Lives Through Education and Supportive Initiatives

At The African Child Agenda (TACA), we are deeply committed to not only enhancing the educational experience for the children of Ghana but also to addressing the critical needs that affect their ability to attend and excel in school. Our journey so far has been marked by significant achievements that extend beyond the classroom, directly impacting the well-being and future of our children, especially girls. Here’s how we’re making a difference:

Pioneering Change: Saturday School Program in Jukwa since 2021

Our Saturday School Program in Jukwa, Central Region, was the beginning of our mission to transform education in rural Ghana. Catering to 85 children, we provided comprehensive academic support, including essential supplies and nutritious meals. By focusing on English, Maths, and literacy, we’ve seen a swift and significant improvement in academic achievement.

Bridging the Digital Gap: Tech Hub in Ekumfi 2024

In 2024, we opened our first Tech Hub in Ekumfi, equipped with the latest technology to introduce children to the digital world. This hub serves as a beacon of digital literacy, providing desktops, laptops, tablets, and Wi-Fi, alongside a library filled with books and games, uniforms, and a movie club. It’s a holistic approach to education in the 21st century.

Expanding Educational Horizons

Our evolved Saturday School now includes a rich curriculum with subjects like Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Robotics & AI, and practical skills in recycling, carpentry, and electronics. This broadened curriculum ensures that our students are well-equipped for diverse futures.

Prioritizing Health and Hygiene: Washrooms and Sanitary Towel Program

Understanding the critical link between health, hygiene, and education, we have focused on constructing clean washroom facilities in schools. This initiative directly impacts all students, particularly girls, who often miss school during their menstrual cycles due to inadequate facilities. Nearly 60% of schools in Ghana lack proper toilet facilities, and our effort aims to reduce this gap significantly.

Complementing our washroom initiative, we introduced a sanitary towel-giving program, providing free pads to girls each month. This program ensures that menstrual hygiene does not hinder their education, helping keep girls in school consistently.

Supporting Communities: Shipping Barrels of Hope

Our commitment extends beyond education and hygiene; we regularly ship barrels filled with clothes, non-perishable food items, footwear, and more to local villages. This initiative supports the basic needs of our communities, ensuring that our children and their families have access to essential resources.

Building Dreams: The Phoenix International Centre of Excellence

The acquisition of land in Accra for the International School of Excellence marks our next ambitious phase. This future institution embodies our vision for a holistic education system that nurtures innovation, creativity, and leadership on a global scale.
